These are quality boots. The leather is soft and supple and they arrived well packaged and without any blemishes. They smell slightly of boot polish (nice). The buckle at the ankle is subtle ... not flashy. These are the first boots I have ever had that fit my calf. When measuring my calf at 15 inches from my instep it measures 12.5 inches in circumference and the fit is snug but not tight. I usually wear an 8 or 8.5 narrow shoe. I ordered an 8.5. I have a narrow ankle and med-narrow foot and this boot is bigger in the ankle and foot than I prefer. The length heel to toe is okay but the foot and ankle seems a little wider than I would have expected for a boot made for an extra slim calf. That is the only reason I did not give them a 5-star rating. I am keeping them and I\'ll try wearing them with a thicker sock.
